Accessories are awesome – they are what can pull a room together, give it flare and can be an easy change for keep the room up to date…but can you have too many?

Mydomaine.com mentions some great thoughts on this in their article “10 Decorating Mistakes That Instantly Cheapen Your Home” Essentially “Less is more” but deeper than that, designer,  Marlaina Teich mentions focusing on arranging accessories in uneven numbers and to consider clustering small items on trays.

Start with a piece that really sets the theme for the room. Is the Eames chair? The tiffany lamp? The 1967 Triumph Bonneville? As hgtv.com points out in their post, “11 Steps to a Well-Designed Room” it is important to create build around that piece to create some continuity.

Consider items that have meaning to you and let that be the focal point. Themes are great – but it’s your space – create it the way you want it.

So too many accessories? Essentially it all depends on the look you want and what you want to share with your visitors…
